Christmas is that time of the year when the market is flooded with all types of Christmas Ornaments and accessories for the Christmas Tree. It is also that time of the year when each one of us is looking for ideas to add that unique and personal taste to the otherwise common and mundane ornaments available in the market.

Beaded ornaments are just right for giving your Christmas Tree the look of the season and therefore, are my personal favorites when it comes to creating my own ornaments and designing them in such a way that they speak volumes about my personality and character. Beads, when coupled with other materials, especially wood, can really lend your Christmas Tree a flavor of its own. I personally like to work with Beads myself and outsource all the wood jobs to a nice carpenter I know of. It is suggested that you also club a couple of materials together- this would really help in giving your Christmas tree a whole new definition of its own.

Christmas Ornaments are one of the best ways to tell others how much you care for them. Personalizing and crafting beaded ornaments yourself for each and every member of your family, friends and close associates, is the best way of sending this message across to them.

There are hundreds, even thousands of ways in which you can personalize beaded Christmas ornaments to make them look different, every Christmas.

If playing with beads is not your cup of tea, you can experiment with glitter and cellophane paper as well. Cutting cellophane paper of different sizes and colors and giving it different shapes is a wonderful way of dressing your ornaments up. Packing the beads and wooden ornaments using the cellophane papers cut by you is a great, yet easy way of giving a personal touch to your Christmas tree. In fact, you can actually let long robe like cuttings of cellophane paper hand down directly from the tree, giving the tree a longer and more "flowing" look. In the end, if beads, scissors and cellophane are not something you are comfortable with, you can make use of ribbons of different colors (Pink, White and Red are my personal favorites) to add just that little bit to make your tree stand out from the crowd.

Vintage Christmas Ornaments Are in Fashion Again

Christmas without the proper decoration is half the holiday. People today started buying vintage Christmas ornaments, due to the massive artistic production of little items that make a difference. There are numerous retail stores that specialize in those small ornaments that decorate our dinner tables and houses.

There is a vast variety of Christmas ornaments available out in the market today; some of them are made of cardboard, featuring the old designs and styles, while some others are made of hand blown glass; several skilled artists work on the manufacture and creation of dazzling little items that reflect the good all times, where Christmas was a family celebration and the customs and habits were followed unexceptionally.

Handmade garlands, small candles and wreaths ornament the particular fiesta dinnerware; brass bells and tins, or wreaths made of pine boughs are the most popular and common Christmas vintage ornaments that people buy or make today.

There are much more things than the typical glass balls; trees and tin cans, beads, tinsels and small angels made of glass or porcelain; even lovely Santas and amazingly beautiful Christmas dolls are available today. We wouldn't exaggerate if we said that there is something for every budget and taste today, both online or typical retail stores.

There are several reasons why people tend to invest in Christmas decoration again; there is an air of nostalgia first of all. Their sentimental value is high, probably because it reminds them of their childhood and happy celebrations with family and friends. Moreover, modern decorations are not that exceptional or beautiful; they are fancier and variable but they are more impressive than nice.

People like buying things that stand out from everything else and that add to the celebratory atmosphere and aura. Using vintage ornaments is a great start towards this direction.

History of Christmas Ornaments

Christmas ornaments have been and integral part of Christmas celebrations for years and it is a known fact that these have been teeming up with The Christmas tree for long. There are many myths, which revolve around the saga of the first use of Christmas trees. It is said that Christmas trees were first used in central Europe. These trees were a symbol of advent of spring and new growth. It is said that, such tress were first used by peasants to celebrate Christmas. Their Christmas celebration was linked with harvesting; hence, to make the celebration more colorful, they started decorating Christmas tree using different edible ornaments.

Transformation of Ornaments

Earlier, Christmas tree was decorated by edible ornaments such as fruits, candies, cakes, cookies and nuts. These were placed nicely to decorate the tree. In accordance with folklores, it was Germans, who first decorated The Christmas tree. Later in early nineteenth century, edible Christmas ornaments were replaced by glass ornaments. They were first used in Luscha, Germany. It was the combined effort of a family, in which males use to do glassblowing, females conducted silvering and children made it beautiful by painting in different colors.

Arrival of Christmas Ornaments in Different Parts of the World.

This German art stepped in England in Victorian era, when Prince Albert (husband of Queen Victoria) started celebrating Christmas at English royal residency in a way, how he used to celebrate in Germany- his native country. In late nineteenth century, North Americans also started celebrating Christmas with ornamentation of Christmas tree. This was introduced in North America by those Europeans, who immigrated to the American continent. Here, Christmas ornaments became a symbol of affluence and wealth. With times, they grew larger and became more vibrant. Bigger Christmas ornaments were a sign of more wealth while smaller were for poorer people. In 1890, when the very first North American Christmas ornament seller started the retailing of these products, he was not sure about his business but within a very short span his business grew up to USD 25 million. But, Luscha was still the king of Christmas ornament production, as until 1925, almost every hand blown glass ornament was prepared there only. After the Second World War, many ornament makers took refuge to other parts of the world. Countries such as Japan and Czechoslovakia cashed the opportunity and started manufacturing ornaments for North American markets. Started with edible ornaments, this market is dealing with a massive capital in the present scenario and is all set to grow by leaps and bound in the years to come.
